Thirty years after actress Natalie Wood’s drowning off the coast of California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office is reopening their investigation into her death. Find out why homicide investigators are taking a closer look at one of Hollywood’s biggest mysteries.
According to the sheriff’s department, authorities now believe they have “additional information” regarding the death of Natalie Wood. Last year, Natalie‘s sister, Lana Wood, and the captain of the yacht that Wood and her husband Robert Wagner were on the night she died, asked the sheriff’s office to reopen the case. As of now, it’s not known if that has any bearing on the new investigation.
Dennis Davern, the captain of the yacht Splendour (the yacht on which Wood died), released a detailed account of that night in his 2009 book, “Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour.” He believes that Wood’s death was a direct result of a heated argument between her and husband Robert Wagner that night.
The other person on the boat that night, Christopher Walken, is the centerpiece of speculation surrounding what may have lead to the arguement that fateful night. Some believe that Wagner was jealous of Walken, who was filming the movie Brainstorm with Wood at the time.
